Reading the mind of plants
Reading the mind of plants
Only very recently have biologists started to attribute sentience to plants. In our work we are analyzing how the plant is reading OUR mind. Using cutting-edge AI and hardware sensors, we measure the action potential of the plant, i.e. their "brain waves". We find that plants such as mimosa pudica, but also vegetables such as basil, lettuce, and tomatoes, can distinguish different people, and also read the emotion of a person standing near the plant.
In our work, we have:
predicted the types of Eurythmic gestures performed by a human standing near different vegetables, based on the action potential of the lettuce, basil, and tomato
predicted the emotions of people watching emotionally charged movie snippets, based on the action potentials of basil plants standing near the person.
predicted the presence of eurythmic gestures near plants
Analyzed the action potentials of tomato plants to predict different types of human voices
Measured the positive biophilic impact of plants and nature on human cognition
Shown that plants recognize different people and their emotions through different action potentials
We are currently building new sensors and software that will automatically recognize and display the emotions of people standing near a plant.
